Program
First level of a 3-year regular programme (that allows for further development through application to Individual Project and/or Advanced Course in Fine Arts). School year is divided in two semesters. Exceptionally, students may enter the year’s course in the second semester (through interview).
The course is structured around a series of training exercises exploring the technical and expressive capacities of the student by approaching different techniques and themes from the Painting tradition. The making of an individual, consistent and diversified portfolio is the central objective of this level.

Program Level 2 of the Painting 3-year programme integrates Painting class training, Drawing workshops and courses in the History and Theory of Art. By the end of this programme the technical aspects of painting should already be handled proficiently and an overall individuality and consistency of the work is expected.

Program Level 3 promotes the individual dimension of the work and the students’ assessment of his/her own position facing the conditions of contemporary art practice. The development of the students’ analytical and critical capacities is given great emphasis.

Program Evening course focusing on the experimental aspects of Painting practice. Exercises of growing complexity aim at promoting a development of the participants’ creative potential and explore the more specific and personal dimensions of their work. Introduction to techniques and general approach to themes will follow closely the main orientation principles of (regular) day courses.
Notes The Evening Course in Drawing and Painting is structured in 3 different integrated levels. Level I – Similar to the 1st level of the regular (day) course in its general approach. Technical investigation and experimentation provide the basis upon which individual and personal characteristics will emerge in the students’ work. Level II – Development level. Emphasis on the student’s individual work. Level III – While participating in class by responding to specific exercises the student will also develop an individual project of his/her own all throughout the school year.

Program Night course focusing on practical and thematic exercises with the objective of developing the participants’ capacities for observation, representation and expression. Experimentation with the materials used in drawing and painting (oil paint, India ink, gouache, charcoal, pastel, graphite, etc.). Exercises will approach in a structured way the relationships between drawing and painting, with recourse to various techniques. Specific aspects of the participants’ work will be valued, oriented and discussed with the teacher in class and in the evaluation sessions, leading to the constitution of an organized portfolio. The course will follow closely the main orientation principles of (regular) day courses. Simultaneous frequency of this course and the Evening Course in Live Model Drawing is encouraged.
